Minnie Mouse costume

This is my second costume for the year, all thanks to our local Maryland Savers & Value Village thrift store! If you haven’t seen my first thrifted costume where I dressed as a hippie Brigitte Bardot, click here.

This time around, Rob joined in on the fun. We are dressing up as Disney’s Mickey and Minnie Mouse! I took him somewhat seriously when he jokingly suggested I be an animal. He and I aren’t really into your typical cosplay, because cosplay can be very sultry and not family friendly. Dressing down and immodestly for any event is definitely not something we promote as Christians. We thought if we were going to dress up for Halloween, it would have to be something wholesome and something that will shine light into the darkness.

What better choice do we have than to pick the most iconic, influential, and innocent of all animals? See below for our completed costume!

Not bad for a Minnie Mouse who is 36 weeks pregnant, huh? I will have fun showing these photos to our child one day!

THE STORE:

Value Village Thrift Store
I love going to Value Village in Brooklyn Park, MD, because it’s one of the largest thrift stores in my area. And it just so happened to be the perfect place to find our costume accessories. You can find your nearest Savers or Value Village on their respective websites’ store list. When I got there for the second round, I was again greeted by a spooky mannequin family at the front door! Their costumes seem to change every now and then. How fun. Check out their awesome Halloween décor:

MY MATERIALS:

Below, you’ll find my Minnie Mouse costume shopping list. Savers & Value Village have brand-new and used items for all of your and your family’s costume needs, all organized according to accessory type and theme. If you don’t feel like splurging on brand-new items, you can always browse through their used section. You can then mix and match to achieve your desired look according to your budget and taste.

I found my Minnie Mouse ears, face makeup, pearl necklace, tights, and white gloves in the brand-new section easily! In the used section, I found the plastic polka-dotted purse, and those cute pumps.

I then took my vintage red-and-white polka-dotted skirt suit and paired it with the rest of my accessories. See below for the used items I mixed in with the new:
